Scene 16 - Questions, Answers (page 167)

I've just been watching Alan Titchmarsh talking about Nature. I couldn't work out who he was by the voiceover - all I could think was he sounded like a younger, less hesitant, Alan Bennett. Clearly, I don't watch enough gardening shows.
It was good though. It's actually been a long while since I watched a nature documentary. I used to devour them when I was younger ... as you might imagine. I had one of those Wildlife Factfiles as well - it's still cluttering up my parent's house somewhere. They never had enough pictures for me, though. It was only ever a couple of sheets for each animal, and it was a bit annoying if you wanted a picture of a shrew from the front and they only had one from the side.
In fact, I had a whole bunch of natural history books. I used to dislike ones with paintings of animals in them, rather than photos. You never knew how accurate they really were, and anyway I was never much of a one for copying a copy. You couldn't help thinking you might be missing vital details.
Not that I was completely obsessive as a ten-year-old or anything.
